Leah Zalan PhD, CPsych
Dr. Zalan is a registered clinical psychologist providing services to adults, adolescents, and couples who are residing in Ontario. The majority of Dr. Zalan’s practice relates to OCD and anxiety. Dr. Zalan customizes treatments to meet the unique needs of each client experiencing OCD, utilizing evidence-based approaches. Dr. Zalan provides psychological assessments for diagnostic purposes and to inform treatment planning. Dr. Zalan is involved in research and clinical work at Sunnybrook Hospital, facilitating groups for individuals with OCD. Dr. Zalan also provides consultation and supervision related to OCD cases.
Dr. Leah Zalan received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from York University, with a research focus on mindfulness/self-compassion compared to cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Dr. Zalan completed her residency at the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health in Toronto, working with individuals with mood and OCD/anxiety disorders, as well as borderline personality disorder.
Dr. Zalan is actively involved in teaching and mentorship, educating others on psychological disorders and their treatments, including OCD. She teaches psychology courses at York University at the undergraduate/graduate level. Dr. Zalan supervises senior psychology graduate students and residents at the York University Psychology Clinic.
Dr. Zalan cares passionately about providing psychological services from a lens of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). Over the course of her career, Dr. Zalan has sought out and worked with a diverse range of clients, gaining an understanding of intersectionality and how to integrate this important variable into treatment.
