Arati Patel MA, LMFT
My practice specializes in treating OCD and related disorders, comprising approximately 50% of my caseload. I have supported numerous individuals struggling with OCD across diverse cultural backgrounds, helping them navigate intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and related challenges. My practice provides a compassionate, culturally sensitive, and client-centered space to help individuals reduce distress and regain control of their lives.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with extensive training in treating OCD and related disorders. My experience includes specialized post-graduate workshops and intensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), mindfulness-based interventions, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have worked with diverse populations across California and Illinois, integrating evidence-based practices with a culturally sensitive, holistic approach to support clients in managing OCD and co-occurring issues effectively.
As a first-generation South Asian American, I bring a culturally sensitive lens to my work with diverse populations. I specialize in supporting clients from multicultural backgrounds, addressing the unique intersection of culture, identity, and mental health. My practice welcomes individuals navigating cultural stigma, intergenerational dynamics, and bicultural stress alongside OCD and related challenges. By integrating mindfulness, holistic approaches, and evidence-based treatments, I create a safe, nonjudgmental space for healing and growth. My goal is to help clients reconnect with their authentic selves while honoring their cultural experiences.
I taught a graduate course at Pacifica Graduate Institute on Cultural Psychology.
