Joseph Parisi PhD
I am with Charlotte Behavioral Health Assocaites, a small group of five mental health practitioners. I maintain a general practice for adults and older adolescents with an area of specialization in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression. I have worked with hundreds of OCD clients and their families. Throughout treatment I focus on creating an atmosphere of understanding and acceptance while helping OCD clients implement exposure and response prevention (ERP). Confidentiality is highly protected.
I was trained in CBT to treat anxiety disorders as a graduate student, earning a PhD in 1977 in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. I have attended numerous postgraduate workshops and seminars over the past 33 years for the treatment of OCD. I developed and became the Director of the Anxiety Disorders Program at Charter Pines Hospital in 1985. From 1991 through 2004, I was the Director of Psychology and Behavioral Medicine at Presbyterian Hospital. I have maintained a private practice in Charlotte, NC since 1979.
