Melissa Mulcahy BPsych (Hons), MSuicidology, PhD (Clin Psych)
Melissa has worked with individuals with OCD since the beginning of her postgraduate clinical psychology training in 2016, and she remains passionate about this area.
She is also experienced in working with health anxiety, worry and rumination, and co-occurring disordered eating and body image disorders. In addition to her extensive training in working with OCD, Melissa has undertaken specialised training in the assessment and treatment of body focused repetitive behaviours (BFRBs), including skin-picking and hair-pulling; Comprehensive Behavioural Intervention (CBIT) for Tics/Tourette’s; and is a Credentialled Eating Disorder Clinician with the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders.
Melissa completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology on the topic of Perinatal OCD at Curtin University in 2021, including placements within the Curtin OCD clinic.
She currently works with OCD and related disorders in private practice. Her dedication to working with individuals and families experiencing these problems is reflected in her active involvement in OCD and Body Focused Repetitive Behaviour (BFRB) research, education, and service development.
Melissa is an invited member of the IOCDF Perinatal OCD Taskforce Research Subcommittee. She has published in peer reviewed journals, and presented at both Australian and International Conferences on the topic of Perinatal OCD.
Dependent on interest, Melissa is able to offer the following treatment group programs:
– ERP for OCD (Adults and Teens)
– Group psychoeducation for adults beginning OCD treatment
– Metacognitive therapy for OCD (Adults)
– Perinatal OCD
– Overcoming worry and rumination (metacognitive therapy)
– Skills and support group for hair-pulling, skin-picking, and other BFRBs
– Supporting your partner, family member, or friend with OCD
Medicare or private health insurance rebates may be available for group sessions. In-person attendance is usually required, unless participants are located in rural/remote areas.
