April V. Moran LCSW-C
Diplomate, Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies
80% of my practice is in treating OCD and related disorders. I have treated well over 100 clients with OCD.
I treat co-occurring disorders of ASD, ADHD, GAD, and BFRD, After a functional assessment I work collaboratively with the client to prioritize the treatment of symptoms that may or may not overlap to increase functionality behaviorally and emotionally.
I have over 25 years of experience treating OCD and related disorders. I completed supervision at the Beck Institute in 2014 and I am currently a Beck Institute CBT Certified Masters Clinician in addition to Beck Faculty where I teach and supervise. I am a diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies.
As a therapist, part of my role is to cultivate and encourage empathy, compassion, and understanding for self and for others, including those who are oppressed, marginalized, or discriminated against, socially or systematically. One way I do this is by encouraging and facilitating critical thinking and the examination of current beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors that oppose these values and maintain social inequities
My upbringing as a military brat has allowed me to experience, appreciate, and observe many different cultures. I continue to strive to seek out education and training opportunities in cultural compentency, such as my latest conference in Toronto, 11/2024 (through the BTTI) that explored treatment adaptations for OCD based on client factors and intersectional identities, (race, culture, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, neurodiversity, co-occurring disorders, religion, perinatal factors, etc.)
