Susan McCarthy Furman PhD
I provide consultation and comprehensive psychological assessment to identify learning, attentional, and/or emotional challenges for older children, adolescents, and adults. I offer Cognitive Behavior Therapy that is solution- and strength-oriented to address an array of challenges including health, relationships, work-life balance, and educational and professional achievement. With a strong commitment to affordable and accessible services, half of my practice involves supervising graduate and post-graduate trainees at Georgia State University's Psychology Clinic and Emory University School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Outpatient Training Program. Each clinic provides excellent low cost services to the metropolitan Atlanta community.
Treatment of OC Spectrum Disorders has been an aspect of my practice for the more than 20 years that I have been a licensed psychologist. Within my Cognitive Behavioral Therapy practice, I have collaborated with clients to reduce OC symptoms, including skin picking, hair pulling, body dysmorphia, perfectionism, and hoarding. Ongoing professional training in evidenced-based practice is an essential part of my practice.
