Lou Lasprugato MFT
Psychotherapist, ACT Trainer
Up to half of my clinical practice at any given time is comprised of individuals with anxiety disorders, and approximately half of them meet criteria for OCD. Between my private practice and former experience working within, developing, and managing an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which included skills-and-process-based groups for those with severe anxiety, I’ve worked with hundreds of individuals with OCD.
I also treat the following issues that can co-occur with OCD: trauma/PTSD, depression, ADHD, substance use, relational problems, and other anxiety disorders, including specific phobias, generalized anxiety, and panic disorder
I’ve been providing psychotherapy since 2002, working more directly with OCD and Related Disorders since 2012 utilizing exposure and response prevention (ERP) within a context of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), of which I’m also a Peer-Reviewed Trainer with the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. I received training in ERP through a couple of workshops attended in 2010 and 2012. I attend and facilitate an ACT/ERP-based OCD peer-consultation group on occasion.
I’ve worked with individuals of various sociocultural backgrounds and identities, and continue to welcome and affirm diversity in my private practice, including all LGBTQ+ individuals.
I’ve attended several trainings on clinical cultural competency and have participated in various diversity and inclusion efforts within the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, including to ensure that ACT trainers were evaluated for DEI-related competencies.
