Tara Joiner MS, LPC
I work with individuals ages 14 and up, specializing in treating OCD and anxiety disorders. My approach includes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, self-compassion, and Inference-Based CBT (ICBT) to address each client’s unique needs. I am also happy to involve family members in treatment as needed, helping to create a supportive environment for clients to thrive. Approximately 80% of my practice is dedicated to OCD and related disorders, and I have helped hundreds of clients gain control over their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
I often have clients with depression or PTSD in addition to OCD or anxiety symptoms. I use personalized, evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based CBT (ICBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to address the unique ways symptoms affect each person. My treatment approach adapts to each individual, taking into account how their symptoms interact and contribute to one another.
I am a licensed professional counselor with over six years of experience specializing in treating OCD and OCD Spectrum Disorders. My training includes completion of the prestigious Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) through the International OCD Foundation, which provides advanced training in evidence-based treatments for OCD. I have also received specialized supervision and training from senior providers in the field, focusing on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT). In my practice, I have successfully worked with numerous clients facing OCD and related disorders, using structured, personalized treatment approaches that empower clients to make lasting changes.
I provide non-judgmental, culturally sensitive care, drawing on my experience working with a wide variety of people and respecting each person’s unique background and needs.
