Sherry Henig PhD
I have a general practice in clinical psychology. I meet with clients both in person and virtually. Approximately 60% of my caseload involves clients with OCD and related disorders. I work with children, adolescents and adults. My approach includes ERP, CBT and ACT, and can include other orientations, such as EMDR, and elements of DBT. I treat contamination fears, fear of vomiting, perfectionism, scrupulosity, violent and sexual obsessions, sexual orientation OCD (SO-OCD), relationship OCD (ROCD) and existential OCD.
The co-occurring disorders would include depression and anxiety in adults and children; sexual and marital problems for individuals and couples; and oppositional defiant disorder and ADHD in children.
I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. I’ve been in practice over 45 years, with greater specialization in OCD over the past 20 years. I’ve participated in two IOCDF BTTI trainings; I attend OCD conferences and consult with experts. I organized and facilitate a monthly peer consultation group composed of therapists specializing in treating OCD.
I have a postdoctoral diploma in child and adolescent psychotherapy; this enhances my work with pediatric OCD. Unless contraindicated, I incorporate work with parents when treating children and adolescents.
I’m a certified sex therapist. This enhances my work with intrusive sexual thoughts, SO-OCD and ROCD.
I have experience with diverse populations, and have awareness of the importance of sensitivity to the nuances of various cultures and populations having been in practice for over 45 years in a community that has become increasingly diverse.
