Nazia Denese PhD
In my current clinical practice, approximately one-third of my caseload consists of individuals with OCD or related disorders; however, in previous roles, this proportion has been significantly higher.
I have extensive experience supporting adults, teens, and kids with co-occurring conditions such as OCD alongside ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and autism. My treatment approach combines psychoeducation, skill-building, and structured exposure work, using evidence-based methods from Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and behavioral therapy.
I earned my PhD from Columbia University and currently serve on the faculty at Harvard Medical School as an Instructor in Psychology within the Department of Psychiatry. With nearly a decade of clinical experience, I have trained under leading experts in OCD treatment, including clinicians at the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute.
The majority of my patients identify as BIPOC.
I identify as South Asian and was raised in New York City, where cultural awareness and diversity were integral parts of my upbringing. My psychology training across New York, Hawaii, and Massachusetts has further deepened my understanding of how to effectively serve individuals from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, racial and ethnic identities, and belief systems.
