Nazia Denese PhD
In my current clinical practice, about a third of my caseload is with patients with OCD or related disorders, but in the past this percentage has been much higher.
I have immense experience treating co-occurring disorders in kids, teens, and adults, such as OCD co-morbid with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and autism. Treatment involves psychoeducation, skills training, and exposure practice via strategies from exposure and response prevention, cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavioral therapy.
I earned my PhD at Columbia University and currently serve on the faculty of Harvard Medical School as an Instructor in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry. I have almost a decade of clinical experience and have received clinical supervision from renowned OCD clinicians in the field such as those at the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute.
The majority of my patients in private practice identify as BIPOC.
I identify as South Asian and grew up in New York City, so cultural competence has naturally been part of my upbringing. I also completed my psychology training in New York, Hawaii, and Massachusetts, which led me to learn more about how to service populations from various income levels, racial/ethnic backgrounds, and political beliefs.
