Judy J. DeKuehn LPC-MHSP
Director/Counselor, Fresh Perspectives Counseling
I provide teletherapy services, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), along with a blending of many other commonly accepted, western-based modalities for healing. In addition, I will sometimes borrow from a more mindful, meditation-centered approach of treatment most often associated with Eastern-based healing. Exposure and Response Prevention (ERPs) are always used in the treatment of OCD related illnesses.
I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2004 with a Masters degree in Counseling. Since that time I have focused my practice exclusively on treating individuals with OCD, hair pulling, skin picking and eating disorders. It has been my privilege to work in this field for 20 years, and to bear witness to the perseverance of the human spirit. It is an honor to work in this field along side my clients.
I am a certified yoga instructor and teach yoga and meditation to school age children in my community. I believe that healing is often a blending of body, mind and spirit. In my opinion, body movement and the practice of quietening the mind through meditation are essential to a balanced approach of healing.
I have seen clients from all walks of life, The demographics of gender, racial or ethnic identities, social status (or lack thereof), age, or income do not matter to me. We are all humans, struggling to get through life as best we can. I meet my clients from a place of equality no matter the situation.
