Narrative of Services:

I’ve been practicing as a licensed psychologist since 2011, and I’m passionate about treating adults with OCD. I provide ACT-informed ERP for OCD.

I’m experienced in treating a wide range of OCD presentations, including taboo and harm-themed obsessions, contamination OCD, relationship OCD, mental rituals, and co-occurring anxiety disorders, insomnia, trauma, chronic pain, and ADHD.

At any given time, 40-75% of my current clients have OCD. I also regularly treat anxiety disorders, including GAD, panic disorder, health anxiety, and phobias such as emetophobia (fear of vomiting) using ERP, ACT, and CBT, and insomnia using CBT-I and ACT.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

In addition to OCD, I treat anxiety disorders (i.e. generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety and phobias such as emetophobia, fear of vomiting), and insomnia. I also treat PTSD and trauma when it is related to OCD, using Prolonged Exposure (PE) or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Often OCD symptoms are the most debilitating, so we’d focus on OCD first through ERP. Many of my clients with OCD also have comorbid anxiety disorders that can be effectively treated through exposure therapy alongside OCD treatment. Sometimes other treatment concerns are more pressing and we may choose to focus on those first. The style of therapy I provide is collaborative, goal-oriented, and active. I work together with clients to design a treatment plan based on their symptoms, circumstances, values, and strengths.

Training Description:

Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) training through IOCDF; ERP Therapy for OCD 4-Day Intensive Training through the Cognitive Behavior Institute (CBI); clinical case consultation with several senior ERP therapists, including psychologists who trained in ERP at the Center for Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania and a faculty member of BTTI; ACT for Anxiety Disorders through Praxis; 2-Day Introduction to Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) through OCD Training School; additional OCD, anxiety, ERP, and ACT workshops through IOCDF, CBI, NOCD, OCD Training School, and NECOA; and regular consultation with OCD specializing therapists.

Diversity Statement:

I have extensive experience treating BIPOC clients, first and second-generation immigrants, refugees, LGBTQ+ individuals, Veterans, individuals with chronic health conditions, neurodiverse clients with ADHD, and adults across the lifespan, including university students and older adults.

At any given time in my practice, approximately 25-40% of my clients are BIPOC, 50-80% are women or nonbinary, and 25-40% are LGBTQ+. They range in age from 18 to mid-50s, including several university students.

My PhD program, pre-doctoral internship, and post-doctoral fellowship all emphasized cultural competency and working with diverse populations, which was a primary reason for choosing them. I’ve previously worked at TWU, one of the most diverse universities in the US, and at highly diverse Veterans Affairs hospitals.

I practice cultural humility – a lifelong commitment to increasing my understanding of my own and my clients’ cultural identities, privileges, and experiences of oppression. I regularly educate myself on the experiences of those who hold different identities than I do, including ongoing continuing education training, workshops on cultural competency, and clinical consultations.
