Alexandra Block LMFT, PsyD-C

Counselor
Narrative of Services:

About 60% of my practice is working with OCD exclusively. Sometimes overlapping or in addition, I provide couple’s therapy, and work extensively with people who are part of the adoption constellation–particularly adoptees.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

Relational distress (couple’s therapy), depressive and mood disorders, and occurring anxiety disorders.

Training Description:

OCD treatment has been a cornerstone of my practice for the past 8 years. Recently, I have partnered with Anxiety Therapy LA, in addition to my private practice, where we treat OCD specifically. Michelle Massi, the owner of Anxiety Therapy LA, was a lead clinician at the UCLA adult IOP program. I have gratefully been awarded the opportunity to work with and learn from her, a leading expert in the field, on the most effective methods of OCD treatment.

Diversity Statement:

My area of expertise outside of OCD is with members of the adoption community. Adoptees as a minority population often get overlooked–and research has established that this population needs specialized, adoption-competent therapy to achieve the best outcomes from treatment. As an adoptee myself, it is an honor to dedicate part of my career and doctoral dissertation work to meeting this need.

The focus of all of my classes at Antioch University and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology has had inclusive cultural competency and awareness as an integral part of the criteria, informing a vast majority of my education and work performed academically. Additionally, to complete my therapist training, I have worked many hours with people from all walks of life and engaged in cultural humility.
