I help kids, teens, and young adults with anxiety and OCD-related concerns. While I also see a wide range of other presenting issues, OCD is a recurring area of focus in my practice. I’ve provided exposure therapy to hundreds of young people, using developmentally appropriate, evidence-based strategies. Up to 30% of the clients on my calendar in a given week have OCD or OCD-related issues, and have helped people recovery from a wide variety of different OCD subtypes (e.g., bedtime routine rituals, contamination fears, “just right” OCD, relationship OCD, religious OCD, harm OCD, checking, and others).
I have been treating OCD since 2019 using exposure therapy and cognitive behavioral techniques. My graduate school had an exposure therapy specialty clinic, and I received specialty training in OCD, PTSD, Panic, Separation Anxiety, and Habit Reversal Training for tics and body-focused repetitive behaviors. Most of my experience is with kids, teens, and young adults, but I have also conducted exposure therapy with veterans.
Serving clients around the country in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Florida has given me the opportunity to learn many different regional and cultural perspectives about anxiety, OCD, and mental health. For example, religious scrupulosity OCD feels very different when you live in a highly faith-based community. With humility and curiosity, I collaborate with clients to distinguish between maladaptive guilt and healthy conviction.
I also have had the privilege of treating underserved populations who otherwise lack access to specialist care. I worked at a non-profit called Boys Town for 6 years as a frontline provider in a high-volume family clinic. These clients often had complex trauma and ongoing life stressors that made exposure therapy especially difficult, as daily life was like a minefield of triggers. To meet this challenge, I adapt ERP to be trauma-informed and culturally congruent, ensuring that exposure is implemented flexibly and respectfully.
